Jackson Cooper, MD’s first day as an intern ends tragically, followed by the necessity of completing his responsibility of being a physician.  It is a story of obligation, tragedy, and terror, as the new physician deals with the world of surgery and medicine.  

The surgeon’s knot is used in surgery; the intern practices it ceaselessly.  The knot refers, as well, to the tangled world of Jackson Cooper. 

Jackson's life becomes burnout, with events beyond his control laced with destructive behavior. Physicians, patients, and cases ranging from humorous to tragic are present.  A Surgeon's Knot is a story of the dignity of medicine, the overwhelming duty to man, failure, and recovery.
